Heath Ceramics: The Perfect Soup Bowl

For me, the perfect soup bowl is one that you can easily pick up or admiringly, slowly, ladle out each nourishing spoon full at your leisure. When I’m feeding my family and friends, I put comfort over formality each and every time. So when it comes to deciding what tableware to put before my guests, the decision is always a simple one.

I fell in love with Heath Ceramics after second visit to San Francisco back in 2008. I stumbled upon their nook of a shop on the wharf after enjoying a gluten free lunch at the Slanted Door (who also happen to use Heath to serve their incredible food). The ceramics are modern, the craftsmanship is exceptional and I LOVE the way the clay warms after the soup has been poured, heating up chilled hands perfectly and making picking up that bowl to sip from an even more appealing option. It’s the perfect soup bowl, so if you just so happen to be shopping for some new dishes as you clean out your kitchen to kick off the new year, keep Heath in mind. They also have some of the best serving dishes, ever, so if you want to treat yourself with a starter piece, I’d start there.
